My goal is to create stylish, functional websites that stick to the
W3C standards for web publishing. I design with XHTML and CSS,
which means you get a fast loading, modern site that is widely
supported in different browsers.

Design for the Internet is only limited by the designer's imagination,
but what's the point of an incredible looking site if the user
can't find the menu?

I'll build you a site that is easy to maintain and easy for your
customers and readers to use. With each site I develop, a lot of
thought goes into how it is organized and laid out. If someone
is visiting a site I built, they won't get lost in it!

Web QuickStart Pack - a professional but low-cost package to get your presence on the web in the minimum of time with the minimum of effort.

Contribute Pack - the method of choice if you want the easiest way to keep your website up to date yourself. I provide you with a simple web-based system that you can edit directly yourself without website building skills.

Web Design and Build Pack - a full design and build package using the latest industry standard techniques and tools for professional web site development.

Website management - monthly and on-demand update and maintenance, including hosting and domain management.

Training packages for any of the packs, general purpose or customised to your needs.

Website accessibility - advice and consultancy on making your website accessible to all of your users.

Optimisation of your site to get it high in the search engine listings. All my sites to date regularly achieve top 10 rankings in Google. Don't take my word for it - have a look! Type "Albany Club" or "Coventry Pool" into Google!

I will take on as much or as little as you ask me to, from a few simple web pages to complex web site design and development. If I can't do it, I'll say so from the start.

Take a look at my websites portfolio on the home page to see a selection of the work I have done for other organisations.

Web Quick Start package

The Web Quick Start package provides you with a professional web site designed
to put the basic information about your business, services, charity, sports club or league on the web at the keenest price for maximum coverage.

What is included
*A set of five basic web pages populated with the initial content you provide.

You can choose five pages from a range:
*index.html (the home page)
*products.html (for your products)
*services.html (for your services)
*about.html (for you to provide information)
*contact.html (for your contact information)
*sitemap.html (to provide a layout of the pages on your site)
*links.html (if you want to link to other sites)
*news.html (keeping visitors up to date)

*A choice of a range of professional quality, attractive and well-designed page layouts that will allow space for your name and logo on all pages and menu-based navigation.
* Your logo plus one other optional picture on each page.
You provide the picture either in electronic format or as a print.
*A CD containing your finished website, with all pages and pictures ready to upload to your hosting company.

What it costs
As a guide, a 5 page site including simple graphics and photographs will cost around £300

What is not included
There are services that I do not usually provide within this package
(though I can provide most as additional options) and for which you will need to make arrangements:

*Site hosting. You will need somewhere to store your web pages on the internet
so that people can get to them. This is called "hosting". I can point you at companies that do this, or I'll provide this as a separate option.

*Domain name. Many people or businesses register their name as a domain name
for the purpose of running a website (like www.leebrayshaw.com for these pages).
I can arrange this for you as an optional extra.

*Keeping your content up to date. I can offer a range of maintenance services should
you prefer me to help you with this. Or you could check out the content management option.

*Graphic design. I will resize and optimise (make as small as possible for fast loading) the graphics you provide to fit the page, but I do not modify them in any other way.

Contribute Pack

Like the Web Quickstart, the Contribute Pack approach gives you a simple 5-page site based on a range of templates. However, instead of having to upload your website every time you change a page, you can log in to your site on the web using a secure link and update your pages directly using a simple and safe mechanism. You will be amazed how easy, quick and smooth a process it can be!

If you have looked at free web content management systems you have probably been put off by their complexity. If you have looked at commercial content management systems you have probably been put off by the cost and complexity. The best news about the Contribute Pack is the price. A flexible and capable website, with easy to use content management tools, could be yours for little more than the cost of a bespoke plain html website. Apart from any design changes, new pages or support this is all you should ever have to pay.

Web Design and Build Pack

If you are looking for a more distinctive look for your website, or you want more features, more pages, more graphics or more support, then I can help you with a full design and build package. I use the latest techniques and tools and apply many years of design experience.

What is included
First and foremost I get to understand your requirements and design a site that is just right for your needs. I can do as much or as little of the job as you want - from simply providing a design template to the full life cycle of design, development, graphic design, content editing and management, hosting and domain registration. I can manage the entire process of setting up and running your website for you.

We are not limited to plain html websites - if you want something more dynamic, including contact forms, e-commerce facilities (Shopping Cart), a content management system (database) or other more sophisticated features, I can develop a full dynamic website for you. If you prefer to manage any part of this yourself, I will also optionally be happy to train you in how to edit, upload and maintain your web pages.

What it costs
As a bespoke design and build service the cost will be dependent on what you need doing. As a guide, for a site with around ten pages, simple graphics or photographs, including a full year's content updates, prices start at around £750.

Web site management

I know first hand that the hardest part of having a website is keeping it up to date.
Many sites are stale, suffer from broken links and may even have broken pages or graphics. While you probably don't want your site to be out of date, it can be a headache to keep the content of your site fresh.

That's why I offer a management and maintenance service.

What is included
*On-demand, weekly or monthly content maintenance plans.
*I'll take your basic content and update the site at the appropriate intervals.
*I'll monitor your hosting service and your domain registration, ensuring that these are kept up to date.

What it costs
Costs depend on the maintenance plan you choose to take up. However a monthly maintenance plan for a simple ten-page site, including hosting and domain management could cost as little as £16.66 a month (£200 a year).

Training

Provide you with on-site or desk-side training for all my web design and maintenance services. A standard two-day training package covers editing web pages, modifying graphics and uploading files to your website. I'm also happy to tailor a training package to your precise needs. Some folks prefer to learn at their own pace (I know I do) or learn from instructional books and video, and I can get this for you, or point you in the right direction.

What it costs
My flat-rate charge for training is £300 per day. For this I will train up to 2 people on your premises at your computers. You will need to have the appropriate software (that is, software like Dreamweaver, Contribute, Rapidweaver, Fireworks or Photoshop) installed on your computers. I can arrange this for you.

Website accessibility advice and consultancy

On 1 October 2004 the final stage of the goods, facilities and services provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) came into force in the UK. Part of the Act concerns the accessibility of web sites, and all UK organisations, public and private sector, large and small are subject to its provisions.

The degree to which companies can be held to account for websites that may disadvantage disabled users has not yet been put to the test, but there is a clear message for web site owners and developers - it's time to make our web sites more accessible! There is little excuse for not doing this as most modern computers have the function of talking to you and accepting spoken commands these days. For most of us this may prove annoying at times, but to some folks it's a godsend.

The good news is that you don't have to sacrifice good design and attractive features on your site to make it accessible. In many cases you won't need to do an enormous amount to make your website accessible. However as is often the case where legislation and standards are concerned simply understanding, let alone following the guidelines can be a minefield. I'd be delighted to help!

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

A web site could be the best looking, and most user friendly web site in the world but
if nobody knows it's there then it doesn't serve any more useful purpose than a picture on your wall.

Search engines have been proven to be the biggest source of traffic for nearly all of the sites on the internet, so optimising your site for search engine coverage is a very economical form of marketing.

When I develop websites, I take measures to make sure that your site is not only user friendly, but search engine friendly as well. Search engines have developed rapidly in the last few years in order to adapt and provide more accurate results. SEO is now a big business. As a result companies can quite often be rather deceptive in using statistics to try and prove to you that they can give you the best search engine ranking possible. In reality, few companies make realistic claims that give you truly significant return for your investment unless they are using techniques that are banned from the search engines (i.e. cheating).

SEO is about optimising your site so that search engines give you high rankings for keywords that are specific to the market your business wants to target. The choice of keywords is critical in order to maximise your coverage in the search engine.

What we can do together
Research what keywords will promote your site targeted traffic.
Submission to major search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSN.
Analyse online statistics where we can see what searches are bringing your site traffic
Site wide analysis and optimisation of content. There isn't an instant fix for this, and it's often an ongoing task.
